Algerian reporters remembered 38 years on

The Algerian Embassy in Hanoi on Mar. 8 laid a wreath on the memorial to 15 reporters and technicians who died 38 years ago in an aircrash accident in Hanoi ’s outlying Soc Son district.

At the ceremony, Algerian Ambassador to Vietnam Chérif Chikhirecalled the memory of the journalists and technicians’ deaths when anaircraft accompanying former Algerian President Houari Boumedieneexploded on Mar. 8, 1974.

A memorial monument forthe accident victims was built during the visit of the contemporaryAlgerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Oct. 16, 2010.

On this occasion, Ambassador Chérif Chikhi expressed his belief thatVietnam-Algeria cooperation and friendship will develop in all fields.-VNA

Two wanted for abusing religious cover to undermine national unity policy

The fugitives are Di (also known as Siu Di), born in 1941, and Dinh Yum (also known as Dinh Jum or Ba Koih), born in 1963, from Ba Na ethnic minority group in Gia Lai province, and hold Vietnamese nationality. They have been charged under Clause 1, Article 116 of the Penal Code for undermining the national unity policy.

Support delivered to Khmer households for traditional New Year
