Nguyen Xuan Tao, Deputy Head of the Labour Management Section of the Vietnamese Overseas Workers Management Department, Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, said that so far more than 7,000 have returned home. The number does not include 210 workers who are planned to land home on 11:30 pm on March 6, Tao said.

Other workers who are now in nearby countries include 1,200 in Tunisia, 650 in Turkey, 292 in Algeria, 150 in Greece and 65 in Egypt.

The department and the Vietnamese government’s working teams and embassies in Libya’s nearby countries have closely worked with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and a number of international relief aid organisations to ensure food and medicine for Vietnamese workers and arrange flights for them to quickly return home./.
