Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Nguyen Hoang Long toured Turin city of Piemonte region, Piedmont region on July 10 to seek closer ties with the Italian locality in economics and culture.

Working with Turin Mayor Piero Fassino, Ambassador Long said Vietnam wants to develop relations with Turin in science-technology, economics, culture and education. He affirmed that Turin is among Vietnam’s cooperation priorities on the threshold of the 40 th anniversary of Vietnam-Italy diplomatic ties in 2013.

For his part, Mayor Piero Fassino expressed his wish to tighten ties with Vietnam.

He said Turin people always support and wish to further develop cooperative ties with Vietnam in economics, culture and education.

Turin will work closely with Vietnam to organise activities to celebrate the two countries’ diplomatic ties next year, he added.

Turin city in particular and Piemonte region in general is one of the wealthiest and most developed areas in terms of industry, culture and education of Italy .

Turin is home to a research centre on Vietnam and is the first place that teaches Vietnamese culture.

Vietnam has opened its honourary consulate office in Turin, which plays an important role in promoting Vietnam’s image to local people.-VNA
