The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) has joined hands with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in training industrial executives in strengthening professional associations as a tool for them to cash in on opportunities.

A three-day training course for executives from the service sector opened in Hanoi on May 5, focusing on global service development trend, models of a sound leadership, methods to build a strong membership network and a roadmap towards trade liberalisation.

John J. Callebaul from AmCham pointed out a need for Vietnamese enterprises to join in a strong association, of which he recommended the VCCI as a key element.

The US expert added that AmCham was working with the VCCI in helping Vietnamese enterprises establish a professional association and providing executives with skills to develop their businesses.

The association would play a key role in boosting members’ growth, he emphasised.

Vice President of the American Alliance of Service Providers Michael Goyer expressed interest in boosting trade between Vietnam and the US. He pledged to share experiences with Vietnamese partners as an increasing number of US investors have come to Vietnam .

The service sector has attracted the largest workforce in the world, surpassing the industrial or agricultural workforces, according to economists.

They added that the service sector has played an increasing role in the world economy and service providers should be given a level playground./.
