President of the Vietnam-US Association Nguyen Tam Chien received a visiting delegation from the American Legion (AL), led by its National Commander Daniel Mitchell Dellingger, in Hanoi on June 10.

Chien informed the guests of Vietnam ’s socio-economic development situation as well as activities by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and his association to foster the relationship between the two peoples.

The June 10-13 visit will help AL members understand more about the land and people of Vietnam , thus contributing to strengthening the friendship between the two countries and helping Vietnam overcome the consequences of war like Agent Orange/dioxin, bombs and mines.

For his part, Dellingger said his visit aims to study the situation in Vietnam and bilateral cooperation in addressing the issue of soldiers missing in action. He also plans to visit a site where remains of American soldiers listed as missing in action during the war are being searched for in Bo Trach district, central Quang Binh province.

The American war veterans expressed their concern about the current East Sea tensions, saying that the issue should be solved by peaceful means on the basis of international law.-VNA
