An Giang (VNA) – A French cultural week is being held in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang from April 19-24 by An Giang University, the French Embassy in Vietnam and the provincial People’s Committee.
A France-Vietnam photo exhibition featuring typical culture and architectural works of the two countries through lens of photographer Nguyen Xuan Khanh of Vietnam and Nicolas Cornet of France kick-started the week.
Also within the framework of the week, outstanding French films are screened for the public while a France-Vietnam art performance programme is held.
Acting Chairman of the An Giang People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh highlighted recent outcomes in cooperation in various areas, especially education – training between An Giang and French partners.
An Giang signed memoranda of understanding with French schools like Cergy Pontois and Eisti universities in 2012. The local school received volunteers and students from French universities to conduct scientific research at university and post-graduate level, while coordinating with French institutes and universities to organise seminars on environmental protection and climate change adaptation.
Since 2002, An Giang and the French province of Val D’oise have conducted delegation exchanges to seek opportunities for cooperation between the two localities. In 2007, they signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in five fields: civil safety, education-training, urban planning, tourism-based economy development and aviation tourism. - VNA
