Angola wants to beef up cooperation with Vietnam in various fields, especially in politics, economics-trade, sci-technology, health, education and telecommunications.

Afonso Van-Dunem, Secretary of the Central Committee for External Affairs of the People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), made the statement at his talks with Le Hong Anh, Politburo member and Standing member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Secretariat in Luanda, Angola, on August 27.

Le Hong Anh is leading a CPV delegation on an official visit to Angola from August 27-29.

The two sides discussed the cooperative ties between the two parties and countries as well as international and regional issues of mutual concern.

Afonso Van-Dunem spoke highly of Vietnam’s national construction and defence achievements and thanked Vietnam for its great support for his country, especially in agriculture, health and education.

He said Movitel, a joint venture between Vietnam’s military-run telecom service provider Viettel and Mozambique’s SPI and Invespar companies, is an effective cooperation model and should be developed in Angola.

For his part, Le Hong Anh said he highly valued great achievements made by the Angolan Government and people under the leadership of MPLA in maintaining peace, political stability, economic development and international economic integration.

He affirmed Vietnam’s determination to promote the implementation of agreements between the two parties and states for the benefits of their people.

He also expressed his hope that the Angolan side will continue creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live stably and do long-term business in the country, contributing to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two peoples.

On the occasion, the two sides reviewed the implementation of cooperative agreements signed between the two parties and states and proposed re-signing those that are expired.

They also agreed to enhance exchanges of delegations as well as boost cooperation between the two parties in international and regional issues while underlining the significance of promoting the multifaceted cooperation in the future.

The same day, the Vietnamese delegation visited the Luanda-Bengo special economic zone, which is in the spotlight of Angola’s industrialisation and modernisation cause.-VNA
