Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior has recognised the Cambodian Youth Party (CYP) as the seventh political party set up in the country since the 2013 National Assembly Elections.

Pich Sros, a former head of the United Organisation for Progress, is the CYP’s president. The CYP’s headquarters are in the capital Phnom Penh.

Earlier this month, the Interior Ministry also recognised the political party status of the Cambodian Indigenous Democracy Party, which is based in Mondulkiri province and represents local ethnic minorities.

The other newly recognised parties are the Grassroots Democratic Party, Khmer Solidarity Party, Cambodian National Justice Party, Beehive Social Democratic Party and Khmer Power Party.-VNA
