The Central Anti-corruption Steering Committee convened its second meeting in Hanoi on March 26, with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, who is also head of the committee, in the chair.

Speaking at the event, Party Central Committee member Nguyen Ba Thanh, who is head of its Internal Affairs Commission and permanent deputy head of the steering committee, announced draft documents on the committee’s working regulations, the decisions to assign tasks on its members and its 2013 key programmes.

This year, the committee will focus on information dissemination and education on anti-corruption work, the completion of an institution on this work, and the uncovering and dealing with corruption cases.

At the meeting, the steering committee’s members contributed many opinions to perfecting these draft documents.

Trong praised the efforts by the Party Central Committee’s Internal Affairs Commission, as a permanent office of the steering committee and some relevant agencies, in preparing the draft documents.

He urged the commission to gather the comments of the steering committee’s members to complete the documents.

Attention must be paid to the prevention of and fight against both corruption and wastefulness, and the building of the working regulations must be in line with the Party’s statutes, the amended Law on Anti-corruption work and other relevant legal documents, Trong added.-VNA
