Eighty Vietnamese Agent Orange victims will engage in exchange activities and enjoy free medical check-ups and treatment in the Republic of Korea (RoK) from June 4-8.

Jointly organised by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), MBC television and the Korean Victims of Agent Orange Veterans Association (KAOVA), the event is part of activities to mark the 20 th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties and Vietnam – RoK Friendship Year 2012.

VUFO Vice President Don Tuan Phong said the programme will be held annually to support Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims.

Tran Xuan Thu, Vice President-cum-General Secretary of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange /dioxin said many international friends stand side by side in the fight for justice to support the Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims.

The programme, with its focus on health check-ups for Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims in the RoK is a practical activity, paving the way for a new phase in the global community, from supporting to caring for AO/dioxin victims.

KAOVA General Secretary Kim Dae Jong said KAOVA has worked closely with the Vietnamese side since 2007 to encourage AO victims to overcome challenges, adding that this year’s programme manifests solidarity and friendship between the two peoples.-VNA
