The 45th APEC Tourism Working Group Meeting concluded in Macao on September 11 with a consensus on strengthening tourism cooperation.
During the two-day event, participants discussed various topics such as facilitating transformation and growth of the tourism sector, prompting intelligent tourism with modern technology, interconnecting the Asia-Pacific travel, and encouraging low-carbon development models between travel agencies.
The Asia-Pacific region has become the world’s largest tourism market, Deputy Director of the China National Tourism Administration Du Jiang said at the meeting.
However, the infrastructure deficiencies and poor multilateral cooperation have restricted the region’s tourism development, he noted.
He said he hopes member economies could work together to promote sustainable tourism development, share information and enhance multilateral cooperation.
