Hanoi (VNA) – Head of the National Assembly’s Committee for External Relations Nguyen Van Giau has stated that Vietnam consistently values and prioritises the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia.

During a reception in Hanoi on January 18 for Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of Russia’s Federation Council Kosachev Konstantin Iosifovich, Giau thanked the Russian parliament for sending a high-ranking delegation to Hanoi to attend the 26th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26), thus contributing to the success of the event.

Speaking highly of mutual support in multilateral forums, especially in the United Nations, Giau asked the Russian parliament to provide necessary legal assistance for the signing of a food safety control agreement, making it easier for Vietnamese firms to export farm and aquatic produce to Russia.

The Vietnamese NA always supports and actively joins parliamentary cooperation activities hosted by Russia, he said, adding that he hopes the two legislatures will continue working closely together within bilateral and multilateral parliamentary cooperation framework.

Iosifovich, for his part, lauded Vietnam as a responsible, active and proactive member in inter-parliamentary forums, and voice his belief in the success of the APPF-26.

He expressed wish that the legislative bodies of Vietnam and Russia will facilitate the exchange of visits by their committees and parliamentarians to share law-making experience, coordinate in overseeing the implementation of signed agreements and support cooperation between the two countries’ governments and localities for practical benefits of the two peoples.-VNA
