ARF officials deliberate disaster relief issues

Representatives from 27 member countries of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) and international organisations discussed a wide range of issues regarding disaster relief, warnings, risk assessment and post-natural disaster reconstruction at a meeting held in Sichuan, China on February 27.
Representatives from 27 member countries of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) and international organisations discussed a wide range of issues regarding disaster relief, warnings, risk assessment and post-natural disaster reconstruction at a meeting held in Sichuan, China on February 27.

Addressing the event, which is to end on February 28, Chinese Vice Minister of Civil Affairs Jiang Li called on participants to share their experience and consider a regional framework for disaster relief activities and plans for joint exercises in 2015.

The official said the Chinese Government has integrated disaster relief into the country’s social and economic development plans.

Established in 1994, the ARF is an important security forum in the Asia-Pacific region. It includes the 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and other countries around the world.-VNA
