– A meeting was held in Ho Chi Minh City on February 15 to increase mutual understanding and solidarity between armed forces in Military Region 7 and religions in the region.

Lieutenant General Tran Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of Military Region 7, affirmed the great role of religious dignitaries and followers in the cause of national independence, reunification, defence, and development.

He called on them to join efforts in building new rural areas and civilised urban areas with strong economies and firm defence and security.

Head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vu Chien Thang asked religious dignitaries and followers to strictly implement the law on belief and religion along with the Party and State’s policies and guidelines in the field.

Over the past year, armed forces in Military Region 7 raised money to build 115 houses for people of the Stieng ethnic group, as well as visited and presented gifts to prominent dignitaries and monks in the area on national holidays and religious festivals.–VNA
