- Chairman of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) Luong Cuong had a meeting in Hanoi on May 5 with Miao Hua, Political Commissar of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy.

Highlighting Vietnam-China traditional relations and the two armies’ cooperation in wartime and national development, Cuong took note of the successful visit to China made by Commander of the Vietnam People's Navy in March.

He said he believes Miao Hua’s current visit will further enhance affiliations between the two armies in general and between the two navies in particular.

Miao Hua stressed Vietnamese and Chinese navies have effectively implemented their agreement on joint maritime patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin. The joint work has contributed to security and stability on the waters, he said.

The navies have regularly exchanged visits between their military ships, held sport, cultural and music exchanges as well as shared experience in Party and political work, and in pirate attacks prevention, the Chinese admiral added.

He said he hopes his visit will help deepen mutual understanding and the comprehensive cooperative strategic partnership between Vietnam and China.-VNA
