Hanoi (VNA) –Vietnam- Russia’s special friendship was highlighted at an art exchange programme in Hanoi on October 29 to mark the 100th anniversary of Russia’s October Revolution.

The event, held by the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), Russian Embassy in Vietnam and Russian Centre of Science and Culture, was attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu, leaders of central ministries and branches and Russian and Belarusian diplomats.

Besides reportage and art performances, the programme also featured documentaries about late President Ho Chi Minh and his activities in Russia as well as Vietnamese revolutionaries who studied and fought in the Eastern Europe country.

The former Soviet Union, present-day Russia, trained generations of Vietnamese leaders, scientists, military generals and artists. Tens of thousands of Vietnamese students trained in Russia and returned home to become significant contributors to national protection and development.

Partly inspired by the October Revolution, the Vietnamese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, succeeded during the August Revolution and the two resistance wars for national independence.

The Vietnamese revolution continues to follow the path towards socialism, the path of the October Revolution guided by Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought, in national construction and defence to attain the goals of a rich people, and a strong country.-VNA
