More than 400 artefacts dating back to between the 15th and 18th century are being displayed at an exhibition in central coastal Khanh Hoa province.

They are among nearly 500,000 objects recovered during the 1997-2006 period from six sunken ships off the shore of southern Ca Mau, Binh Thuan, Kien Giang and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces and central coastal Da Nang city.

Most of the exhibits are pottery in different shapes and colours such as bowls, plates, cups, vases, pots, jars and teapots.

The provincial Culture, Sports and Tourism Department said that the exhibition entitled “Echo from the sea” aims to provide an insight the history of Vietnam ’s international trade on the East Sea from the 15 th to 18 th century.

The exhibition, which opened on June 9, will last until the end of August.
