Nearly 14 billion VND was raised in support for people with disabilities and orphaned children at an artistic exchange themed “One Heart-One World” which was held in Hanoi on April 14.
The programme, the ninth of its kind, was co-organised by the Association for the Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans (ASVHO), the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Vietnam Television and MediaMax JSC.
Speaking at the event, ASVHO President Nguyen Dinh Lieu said since the 8th programme last year, his association has collected 182 billion VND.
The money has been used to buy wheelchairs for the disabled and support orphaned children in 38 communes nationwide.
Besides the artists’ performance, the audience also had a chance to talk to disadvantaged people who have made every effort to overcome difficulties and integrate into the community, as well as many activists who have dedicated their life to helping the ill-fated people.-VNA
