A biennial ceramics trade show featuring the latest machinery, technology and materials for manufacturing whiteware, heavy clay and advanced ceramics will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, in September.

This year's show would be twice as big as the previous event, and was expected to draw both ASEAN members and their trade partners, organisers said.

Vu Quoc Hung, Secretary General of the Vietnam Building Ceramic Association, said: "The International ASEAN Ceramics Exhibition is an opportunity to expand investment cooperation, transfer technology, purchase materials and equipment, provide services and act as a bridge between manufacturers and distributors between Vietnam, ASEAN, and the world."

Vietnam's ceramics industry has enjoyed strong development. It produces over 400 million sq.m. of ceramic tiles and 12 million pieces of sanitary ware annually. Vietnam is consistently ranked in the top 10 largest ceramics producers after China, Spain, Italy and Brazil.

Its current export value is 400 million USD per year, with annual sales of over 2 billion USD.-VNA
