The ASEAN-China Joint Working Group on April 16 convened a meeting on implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) in Vietnam ’s capital city of Hanoi.
The two-day meeting underlined the significance of the DOC, signed between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China , in order to develop the trust and ensure peace, stability, security and cooperation in the region.
At the event, the participants committed to respect and fully implement the declaration.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the DOC and discussed concrete measures for coordination and effective realisation of the declaration.
The outcome of the meeting will be submitted to the ASEAN-China Senior Officials Meeting.
DOC, issued by the Governments of the 10 ASEAN countries and China in November 2002, includes marine environmental protection, marine scientific research, safety of navigation and communication at sea, search and rescue operation, and combating transnational crime./.
