ASEAN defense ministers meet in Cambodia

Thanh, participated in the 6 th ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting which
took place in the Cambodian capital city of Phnom Penh on May 29.
The meeting was chaired by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Tea Banh.
High on the agenda were solidarity and cooperation for a safe and secure community as well as measures to maintain peace in the bloc.
The meeting agreed to increase the frequency of organising the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM+) from once every three years to two years to enhance cooperation between the region and the world for peaceful and secure purposes.
The meeting is expected to issue a joint statement on enhancing ASEAN unity for a harmonised and secure community.
After the meeting, the ministers will meet with Chinese Defence Minister Liang Guanglie who is paying an official visit to Cambodia from May 28-30.-VNA
