ASEAN diplomats join sports exchange in Hanoi

Hanoi to mark the 43 rd anniversary of ASEAN establishment and the 15
th year of Vietnam’s ASEAN membership.

th year of Vietnam’s ASEAN membership.
The officials and staff from embassies of ASEAN countries and Vietnamese ministries and departments competed in tennis, badminton, table tennis and football in a friendly atmosphere, showing the sportsmanship and solidarity among countries in the bloc.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dao Viet Trung said that the event was also a chance for Vietnam to strengthen friendship and understanding with and learn from ASEAN nations.
Speaking at the event, Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Pitonu Purnomo said that this activity offered an opportunity for ASEAN diplomats to exchange codes of behaviour, display cultural characters and their working spirit.
The ambassador also praised Vietnam’s positive contributions in the ASEAN chairmanship year./.
