Handicrafts and textiles made within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are on display at an exhibition being held from August 6-23 in Romania ’s capital city of Bucharest.

The exhibition was co-organised by embassies of five ASEAN member countries in Romania : Indonesia , Malaysia , the Philippines , Thailand and Vietnam .

The exhibition features traditional costumes and handicrafts, along with works of art made from local silk and fibre, which capture the spirit of wet rice civilisation as well as the unique culture of each Southeast Asian nation.

A representative from the Romanian Cultural Ministry said that the exhibition played an important role, symbolising the traditional friendship between Romania and ASEAN members.

It also contributed to increasing mutual understanding and relations between the people of Romania and ASEAN especially in culture and tourism./.
