A photo and documentary film contest on environmental protection and climate change in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was launched on July 22 in Hanoi.

According to Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Do Quy Doan, a representative of the contest’s organising board, the contest aims to meet ASEAN’s 2020 vision of a clean and green ASEAN with fully stable mechanisms for sustainable development, environmental protection, sustainability of the region’s natural resources and quality of life in ASEAN countries.

The contest will also enhance cooperation and mutual understanding between ASEAN members.

Contestants include organisations, individuals and groups of authors who are ASEAN citizens. Each author is limited to submitting ten entries per category, and photos are limited to 20.

The photos will reflect the real situation, impacts of protecting the environment and combating climate change.

Furthermore, the photos will also introduce outstanding achievements of individuals, agencies and organisations from ASEAN countries on environmental protection and combating climate change.

According to the organisers, entries can be submitted until October 30.

The entries that make it into the final round will be announced via the ministry’s website, Vietnam News Agency publications and Vietnam’s mass media.

The oganisers will award six prizes, consisting of one first, two second and three third prizes, and honourable mentions in each category this December in Hanoi.-VNA
