ASEAN, EU to cooperate in crisis response

programmes between the two blocs.
The discussion, held in Jakarta , Indonesia , especially focused on the sharing of experience and expertise, as well as joint exercises on disaster preparedness, risk reductions and crisis response , according to a press release from the ASEAN Secretariat.
Both ASEAN chief and commissioner agreed to further promote concrete cooperation between the existing mechanisms of ASEAN and EU, namely the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management and the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid Department.
Surin Pitsuwan and Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva also agreed on the positive development in Myanmar and look forward to the EU and ASEAN working more closely to encourage further development./.
