ASEAN Foreign Ministers prepare for summit

ASEAN Foreign Ministers on Apr. 2 gathered in Phnom Penh to discuss preparatory work for the 20 th ASEAN Summit, which will take place on Apr. 3 and 4.

ASEAN Foreign Ministers on Apr. 2 gathered in Phnom Penh to discusspreparatory work for the 20 th ASEAN Summit, which will take place onApr. 3 and 4.

The ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM) is chaired by Cambodian FM Hor Namhong.

Theministers discussed and passed documents to be submitted to the summit,including the Phnom Penh Declaration, the Joint Declaration on a drugfree ASEAN by 2015 and the ASEAN Chair Declaration on ASEAN’s 45thfounding anniversary.

Cambodian State Secretary for ForeignAffairs Kao Kimhon said that ASEAN meetings this time will focus onboosting cooperation, building the ASEAN Community, strengtheninglinkage and cooperation within the bloc and with partners, as well asregional and international issues.

Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh led the Vietnamese delegation to the meeting.

Thesame day, meetings of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and the ASEANSocio-Cultural Community (ASCC) also took place in Phnom Penh.-VNA
