Rome (VNA) – Enhancing exchanges and cooperation with Italian localities will be one of the priorities when Vietnam assumes the rotating Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Rome (ACR), said Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Cao Chinh Thien.

He made the statement during a recent working session between a delegation from the ACR and the authority of eastern Marche Region.

On behalf of the ambassadors of Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand, Thien introduced ASEAN and its business and investment opportunities to President of Marche Luca Ceriscioli.

Meanwhile, the Marche leader said that ASEAN and Marche Region have huge collaboration potential in trade, investment, port, training, and cultural exchange.

The two sides will promote information exchange to flesh out cooperation projects.

Also, the ACR delegation met with officials of the Ancora trade office, exchanged information at Marche Polytechnic University, and visited regional craft villages.

Visits to localities are a practical move to promote images and cooperation between the bloc and its member countries and Italy. This will enable the ASEAN nations to study and set up suitable cooperation channels with Italian localities for benefits of each side.

The ACR plans to tour Pescara city in Abruzzo region in June. - VNA
