journalists’ conference in Tokyo on January 30.
The event focused on the role of communications in the development of the Asia – Pacific region.
President of the Japan Institute of International Affairs Yoshiji Nogami said the region has seen the fastest growth in the world. Within it, ASEAN is attracting the attention of international powers as well as global political and economic hubs such as Japan , the US , India , Russia , China , and the European Union.
He said communication plays a major part in the active development of ASEAN, adding that the conference aimed to highlight the sector’s specific role and responsibilities in this work, as well as in bringing the bloc and Japan closer together.
At the event, participants also discussed regional security, economics and the advantages and challenges in ASEAN – Japan ’s relations.-VNA
