The 17th ASEAN Postal Business Meeting (ASEAN POST 17) conference and the 4th Open ASEAN Post conference kicked off in the central city of Da Nang on Nov. 25.

Post Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Syed Faisal Albar chairs both events, which will run till Nov. 27.

Participants will discuss the application of regional postal charges, transit-fee e-commerce development and international express money e-transfer projects.

They will also focus on new proposals for business and development of projects on postal finance, as well as strategy to promote express transfer services.

The 17 th ASEAN Post is among activities during the year that Vietnam takes the Chairmanship of ASEAN. It is a forum for ASEAN countries to share experiences and boost cooperation in the field in order to improve quality of their services and expand market in ASEAN in particularly and Asia in general.

Vietnam ’s postal sector on Oct. 27 issued a stamp collection “ Vietnam in ASEAN community” to mark the 17 th ASEAN Summit and related summits in Hanoi .

Vietnam became official member of ASEAN post conference in 1996. Since then, the country has learnt many solutions to raise its business efficiency and contributed initiatives to strategies and plans to develop the post sector of the region.

ASEAN post conference is held annually in rotation of member countries. Vietnam successfully hosted the event in 2000./.
