Seoul (VNA) - An international conference on "ASEAN-Korea Partnership 2024" was held in Seoul on November 7, by the ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) and the Korean Association of Southeast Asian Studies (KASEAS).
Themed toward a sustainable and resilient future, the conference, one of main events of the ASEAN Week 2024, marked the 35th anniversary of ASEAN-Korea Dialgoue Relations, the elevation of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), and the 15th anniversary of the AKC.
The conference, featuring four sessions, aimed to strengthen ASEAN-Korea ties in political-security, economic, and socio-cultural spheres. Discussions covered CSP prospects, economic resilience, sustainable growth, cultural exchange, and the AKC’s strategic vision.
Key points included post-2025 ASEAN-Korea relations, potential in digital transformation, and collaboration on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. In culture, the focus was on enhancing mutual understanding through tourism, youth exchange, and media cooperation.
AKC Secretary-General Kim Jae-shin expressed optimism about the robust ASEAN-Korea relationship, viewing the conference as a key platform for policymakers, civil society, and experts to plan ASEAN-Korea CSP initiatives in alignment with the recent ASEAN-Korea Summit joint statement./.
