The Ambassadors of several other ASEAN member countries in Norway have expressed hope to deepen the cooperation between the ASEAN and Norway in the field of science and technology.

The ambassadors of Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand recently made a working trip to Trondheim city, which is considered Norway’s scientific and technological centre.

They had meetings with Trondheim mayor Rita Ottervik and representatives from the Norway Science and Technology University (NTNU), the research organisation SINTEF and the Norwegian Marine Technology Research Institute (MARINTEK).

During the meetings, the two sides discussed potentials for cooperation in education, research on technology and technological application in industry and business.

The ASEAN ambassadors also mentioned the possibility of holding an ASEAN business workshop.

On the sidelines of the trip, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Norway, Le Thi Tuyet Mai, met some Vietnamese scientists, who are working at the SINTEF and MARINTEK.

Trondheim city, Norway’s third largest city with a population of 180,000, is home to many universities and research institutes, including the world renown NTNU.-VNA
