Delegations of young people from 10 ASEAN member countries plus China, the Republic of Korea and Japan attended a forum entitled “young people help to preserve and promote traditional cultural values” in Hanoi on October 8.

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Hanoi , Ngo Duy Hieu, said that Vietnam boasts a diverse culture with a valuable heritage and has more than 40,000 historical, cultural and revolutionary places of interest.

Vietnam is recognised as one of the 30 countries in the world to have unique cultural identity, he said, adding that 10 of the nation’s heritages have been recognised by UNESCO as world cultural heritages.

The participants confirmed the important role played by young people in preserving and supporting the nation’s cultural heritages.

They put forward tried and tested models that preserve traditional cultural values, in the context of globalisation, integration and development./.
