The 30th conference of ASEAN Chiefs of Police (ASEANAPOL) concluded in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on May 27 after a series of discussion focusing on common interest and the fight against crimes and terrorism.

During the meeting, head delegates discussed measures to increase the effectiveness of ASEAN cooperation in fighting transnational crime.

They also exchanged view with representatives from ASEANAPOL dialogue partners, including China , Japan , the Republic of Korea , Australia and New Zealand , and representatives from the ASEANAPOL Secretariat and Interpol, on strengthening mutual cooperation, particularly in law enforcement.

They agreed to develop a plan of action, which will be carried out by ASEAN member countries and their dialogue partners.

The three-day ASEANAPOL conference was attended by nearly 300 high- ranking police officers from the 10 ASEAN member countries and their dialogue partners.

The meeting discussed a wide range of issues and had touched on particular topics such as terrorism, drug and weapon trafficking, maritime fraud and cyber-crime.

The next meeting of ASEANAPOL will be held in Laos.
