ASEAN’s High Level Task Force on Economic Integration (HLTF-EI) convened in Ho Chi Minh City on July 26-27 to prepare for the 42 nd ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Meeting (AEM-42) scheduled to take place in August in Danang.
The 18 th meeting under the chairmanship of Brunei Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Lim Jock Hoi focused on issues related to economic integration in ASEAN, including structural and institutional reforms, trade policies and connectivity initiatives in the region.
In addition, the meeting dealt with economic ties between ASEAN and outside partners as well as ASEAN’s efforts in maintaining its central role in newly-emerging economic architectures.
The results of this meeting and previous meetings will be submitted to AEM-42, said Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Cam Tu, Head of the Vietnamese delegation at the meeting.
AEM-42 is one of the important preparations for the 17 th ASEAN Summit scheduled to take place in Hanoi at the end of this year./.
