Thailand on August 2 hosted the first international seminar on ASEAN cultural diversity with the aim of promoting the preservation of this diversified culture.

As ASEAN member countries boast multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-cultural and multi-religious structures, mutual understanding about each other’s culture and living styles is expected to contribute to building a strong ASEAN community and maintaining peace and unification in the bloc, researchers said.

The event brought together ASEAN diplomats and scholars who talked a wide range of topics, ranging from cultural diversification, world heritages in ASEAN, the link between culture and sustainable social development, to arts of performance and food for a wealthy and happy life.

The event was jointly held by the Institute of Languages, Arts and Culture and the Ministry of Culture of Thailand./.
