The 32nd session of the Asia-Pacific Fisheries Commission (APFIC) opened in the Da Nang City on September 20.
The three-day session will discuss and review the recommendations put forward at APFIC’s fourth Regional Consultative Forum.
Conclusions made during the session will act as a basis for APFIC to plan fisheries and aquaculture management in Asia-Pacific.
The 21-member APFIC is a multi-national organisation that consults on fisheries and works to improve understanding, awareness and cooperation on fisheries issues in the region.
In Vietnam , fisheries have a long tradition, making a big contribution to the country’s food security, providing jobs and increasing the incomes of local people as well as the value of the country’s exports.
The fourth Regional Consultative Forum Meeting of the APFIC is also taking place in Da Nang from September 19-22.-VNA
