Asian girls’ volleyball comes to HCM City

A total of 15 volleyball teams from countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region will take part in the Asian Youth Girls’ Volleyball Championship to be held in Ho Chi Minh City from September 12-20.
A total of 15 volleyball teams from countries and territories in theAsia-Pacific region will take part in the Asian Youth Girls’ VolleyballChampionship to be held in Ho Chi Minh City from September 12-20.

The 15 participating teams will be divided into fourpools, of which Vietnam is listed in Pool A together with Kazakhstanand New Zealand , said a press briefing in HCM City on August27.

Japan, India, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong willcompete against each other in Pool B. Pool C includes Thailand,Indonesia, Taiwan and Fiji while Pool D matches China, the Republic ofKorea and Iran.

After pool competitions, the best two teams selected from each pool will enter the quarterfinals./.

The Vietnamese delegation comprises 496 members, including athletes, coaches, experts, officials, doctors and medical staff. The teams will depart in several groups depending on their competition schedules, with the largest group expected to leave on September 16. The squad has set a target of winning at least four gold medals at ASIAD 20.
