The 13th conference of judicial heads from Asian and Pacific countries concluded in Ho Chi Minh City on Nov. 12.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Chief Judge of the Vietnam Supreme People’s Court Truong Hoa Binh expressed his belief that Vietnam would continue to exchange information with regional countries to successfully implement its judicial reforms.

The three-day conference discussed the development of the court sector in the context of judicial reform, the effectiveness of judiciary activities, measures to maintain the court’s independence, and the role of chief judges in boosting the development of judiciary titles and raising public awareness of the court’s role.

Participants agreed that developing the judicial system will ensure the court’s independence and transparency and the accountability of judges as well as strengthen people’s access to justice.

Judicial training is a decisive factor for the sustainable development of the judicial system, they said, adding that chief judges also play an important role in boosting the development and improvement of lawyers as well as building a transparent and impartial judiciary, thus increasing people’s confidence in the court system.

During the conference, the Chief Judge Truong Hoa Binh held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Russia , China , Japan and Australia./.
