The Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association’s Hanoi chapter held its fourth congress for the 2012-2017 tenure in the capital city on June 9.
The congress drew the participation of more than 130 people representing over 1,000 members of the chapter. The Ambassadors of Cuba, Argentine, Mexico and Venezuela to Vietnam also attended the event.
Over the past years, the association chapter has taken part in numerous people-to-people diplomacy activities, helping tighten the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in general and between the two capital cities in particular.
According to President Nguyen Viet Thao, the key tasks of the chapter in the future are to increase activities to promote the image of Vietnam and organise exchanges during holidays to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between Hanoi and Havana .
The chapter will also hold talks between small-and-medium sized enterprises from both countries to seek opportunities for cooperation and organise humanitarian activities to raise funds for the poor and victims of natural disasters.
