The earthquake knocked out power and communications and opened cracks in buildings in central Mindanao, said national disaster agency spokesman Mark Timbal.
Two people were killed and 18 injured in a landslide in Magsaysay town in Davao del Sur province, and a seven-year-old girl was killed when a wall in her house collapsed.
According to the disaster agency, 27 people were injured and 15 buildings damaged, including shopping malls, schools and town halls.
The 6.4-magnitude quake hit Mindanao in the south of the Philippines on October 16. There were no immediate reports of casualties from the earthquake.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake struck 69km north-northwest of General Santos, Mindanao.
The Philippines is regularly hit by quakes as the country is on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” a horse-shoe shaped band of volcanoes and fault lines circling the edges of the Pacific Ocean./.
