The central city of Da Nang will hold an array of cultural, sports and tourism activities as a welcome to the 2013 Da Nang International Fireworks Competition (DIFC 2013) slated for April 29-30.

Apart from annual activities such as floating flower garlands and colourful lanterns and boat procession on Han River, street music performances and displays of souvenirs and stone statues, visitors will have a chance to attend an exhibition entitled “Vietnam’s Hoang Sa: historical evidence”, a sea festival and a national Hiphop exchange as well as enjoy famous dishes of Vietnam and other foreign countries.

With the aim to bring fresh experience to arrivals, the municipal tourism sector in coordination with travel agencies has launched several new special tours, particularly a tour of the Hue-Da Nang-Hoi An central heritage road and a programme exploring Da Nang, Son Tra and Cu Lao Cham by helicopter.

Major hotels will also offer room price reductions and hold outdoor parties for visitors during this occasion.

Especially, an international cultural and culinary festival will take place for the first time in Da Nang from April 27-30 with the aim to introduce cultural identities and cuisines of DIFC participating countries, including the US, Russia, Japan, Italy and Vietnam, to local people and tourists.

There will be a common cultural space where visitors can explore the cultures of the five countries through photos and products depicting their cultural and spiritual lives.

The festival will also include cultural and artistic activities such as festivals featuring Japan’s tea drinking and Origami paper folding arts, calligraphic contests as well as painting and photo exhibitions.

At night, visitors will enjoy art performances and shows of the five countries’ traditional costumes.-VNA
