National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu called on the State audit to scrutinise the efficiency of State budget spending and the use of State property at a conference on the State Audit’s 2010 targets.
He placed emphasis on the need to audit the accounts of projects in implementing the National Assembly’s resolution on socio-economic development in 2009 and the Government’s resolutions on urgent rescue packages for economic recovery and social security.
The State audit should evaluate the spending of State properties in State-owned enterprises, focusing on securities investment, real estate development, banking and insurance.
His view was echoed by State Audit Deputy General Director Le Minh Khai, who said the major targets of the State Audit for 2010 are to evaluate the efficiency of the Government’s economic stimulus packages, land management, tax policies, the use of insurance funds, the issuance, management and spending of the Government bonds, poverty reduction programmes and ODA-funded projects.
The initial report showed that the State Audit recovered over 14.22 trillion VND (767.77 million USD) in financial fraud related to the State budget and discovered 211 billion VND in excess overdue tax debts owed by State-owned enterprises compared to tax collectors’ reports./.
