Two Australian naval ships, HMAS Huon and HMAS Yarra, with 56 officers and sailors aboard, arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on Oct. 10, beginning a five-day visit to the city.
The visit aims to beef up the friendship between the two navies as well as cooperation between the two countries.
Later in the day, the Australian officers and sailors paid a courtesy visit to leaders of the HCM City People’s Committee.
Le Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, underlined the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Australia .
He spoke highly of Australia ’s support and assistance to Vietnam and HCM City in training defence officers, fighting crime and fire prevention.
During its stay in the city, the delegation also engaged in charitable and sporting activities with the Navy Technical School and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University’s Ho Chi Minh campus, while taking the chance to explore the land and meet the people of Vietnam./.
