Hanoi (VNA) – Australian PrimeMinister Malcolm Turnbull is in Vietnam to strike politically sensitiveregional trade and security deals, according to the SBS World News.
The PM iskeen to urge world leaders at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit toembrace free trade and turn their backs on protectionism.
He will alsobe pushing for an 11-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) to be sealed atAPEC, after the US pulled out of the pact.
The TPP was signed in February 2016by Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand,Peru, Singapore, the US and Vietnam, covering around 40 percent of the globaleconomy before the US’s withdrawal earlier this year.-VNA
