Vietnamese and Australian legislatures should share experience via more visits and work closely together at international parliamentary forums, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has suggested.
He made the proposal at his talks with Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives Bronwyn Bishop in Hanoi on September 13, right after the welcome ceremony.
As bilateral ties are gaining momentum, he also asked for further cooperation across national defence, security and education in ways that suit each side’s conditions.
Chairman Hung said in full confidence that Vietnam and Australia will become closer and reap new progresses in the future.
The host also took the occasion to invite Bishop to the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union slated for next March in Hanoi.
Bishop told Hung that her visit is to tighten relationships between the two legislative bodies and peoples, adding that both countries should come up with more cooperation channels in order to realise their commitments.
She voiced her desire that both sides will further engage in law-making, supervision and mutual visits.
Both host and guest were on the same page when it comes to joint work in education as its potential is yet to be fully tapped.-VNA
