Outstanding scientific projects by students of universities across Vietnam were presented with the Vietnam Young Science Talent Award 2013 in Hanoi on January 4.

The award ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), saw the presence of Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan.

This year, more than 302 entries selected from thousands of scientific projects by students nationwide competed for the award.

Of them, 10 received the first prize while the second prize went to 27 others. The third and consolidation prizes were granted to 72 and 102 projects, respectively.

In addition, students with projects winning the first prize will also be prioritised when applying for MoET scholarships.

This award is a driving force for students, said Nguyen Viet Hoan from Da Nang University of Science and Technology - second prize winner. He suggested that they be patient, learn well and make in-depth studies on scientific issues, thus they can see what they have learned more interesting.

On this occasion, the ministry also awarded certificates of merit to lecturers who instructed first prize winners and universities with outstanding achievements in organising scientific research activities.

Founded 23 years ago, the award has become one of the most prestigious honours for students in the country.-VNA
