Buenos Aires (VNA) – A book comprising essays which won prizes at the ASEAN Essay Contest for Argentine students from 2013 to 2014 has recently made its debut in Buenos Aires .
The 190-page book was introduced at a ceremony held on July 15 by the Argentinean Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the National University of Plata.
Speaking at the event, Professor Ezequiel Ramoneda, Coordinator of the Centre for Southeast Asian Studies at Argentina 's National University of La Plata , stressed the importance of the ASEAN Essay Contest in improving understanding between Argentina and members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The book comprising seven profound studies will help readers learn history, trend of development and integration of ASEAN as well as the potential of collaboration between the bloc and the Southern Common Market (Mercosur), of which Argentina is a member, he added.
The professor also noted that ASEAN is one of the most dynamic economic regions in the world with a population of 630 million people.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina Nguyen Dinh Thao briefed participants on the most important events of the bloc in 2015, especially the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community, which demonstrates the common determination of the member countries to further intensify interregional cooperation for mutual benefits, peace, stability and prosperity.
The ASEAN Essay Contest, joint-initiated by the ASEAN embassies in Argentina , aimed fundamentally to encourage the development of academic analysis and researches to deepen the knowledge about the countries of ASEAN as a bloc.-VNA
