The northern province of Bac Giang has set a goal of earning 980 million USD from exports of garments and textiles by 2015, according to its master plan on the sector’s development during 2015-25.

In the 2014-15 period, Bac Giang’s apparel sector targets a production value of 3.65 trillion VND (171.55 million USD) with an annual growth of 18.1 percent.

The sector is hoped to employ over 8,800 new labourers in 2015, raising its total workforce to 50,000.

Under the plan, production value is aimed to grow by 15 percent in 2016-2020, to 7.34 trillion VND. The figure is set to expand by 10 percent to 11.8 trillion VND during the 2021-2025 period, according to the plan.

Annual export earnings will be 1.97 billion USD between 2016 and 2020 and 3.3 billion USD by 2025.

By 2025, the provincial sector is forecast to recruit 85,000 labourers in total.

To the end, Bac Giang will continue providing all possible conditions for investors to the sector, especially those eyeing rural areas where labourers are abundant.

It plans to call for investments in large-scale projects using high technology.

The province plans to place textile and material producers in industrial parks and clusters with a view to protecting the environment.

Apparel enterprises will be assisted in making products for domestic consumption and traditional embroidery and weaving villages will be developed. These are viewed to help transform the province’s economic structure.

The province is working hard to prepare skillful human resources in an attempt to make it ready for internal and external investments to the sector.-VNA
