Bad weather at airports in northern Hai Phong city and central Thanh Hoa province on February 14 has forced Vietnam Airlines to re-direct many flights to and from the two airports.
The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines reported that on the day, a total of 10 flights from Ho Chi Minh City and central Da Nang city could not land at Hai Phong’s Cat Bi Airport and Thanh Hoa Airport and had to shift round to Hanoi.
The same day, low cost carrier VietJet Air also had to cancel two flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Thanh Hoa and two others from Hai Phong to Ho Chi Minh City.
A Ho Chi Minh City-Hai Phong flight was forced to land at Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport.
To facilitate the travel of people during the lunar New Year (Tet) festival, the carrier is increasing the number of flights from Ho Chi Minh City to central Nghe An province, which borders Thanh Hoa, and Hanoi and vice versa so that affected passengers can choose another way to go home.-VNA
