Vietnam’s 18-year-old badminton player Pham Cao Cuong has leaped four places to fifth in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings.

Cuong’s progress to the quarterfinals of the Asian Junior Championships which concluded in Taipei on February 23 earned him nearly 3,000 points to secure his highest ever position in the world junior list.

The player is scheduled to compete in the World Junior Badminton Championships in Malaysia and Indonesia in April, a good opportunity for him to sharpen his skills and improve his rankings.

The top two badminton players in the world remained unchanged, with Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia seeding first, followed by Chen Long from China.-VNA
